Hot Glass artist Ron Murphy

Ron is a self taught artist who started working with hot glass and blowing glass in his dad’s garage when he was 12 years old. At 15 he had his first retail outlet in Cheyenne Wyoming, and by age 18 he started selling small glass figurines to gift shops. His first show was in Steamboat Colorado in an Art Gallery and since then he has done hundreds of shows in Malls and Art shows around the country. About 1978 Ron went to work for the late Homer Hoyt the owner of Glasscraft Inc. a glass and tool outlet in Golden Colorado. Ron went on to developed a line of wholesale items that consisted of different forms of glass animals, wedding cake tops, with a special interest in western wildlife and sea life forms. Ron specializes in glass pendants, glass rings and glass earrings. Currently Ron works out of his front range studio in Colorado teaching lampworking, glassblowing. Ron has his glass sculptures in galleries around the country. Ron says “ After 40 plus years I feel that I have only scratched the surface of what can be done with hot glass.”
